We will start advertising the May 8th horse show this
month. Spread the word to your “horsey” friends and at any events
you may attend. I have “show bills” (flyers) if anyone knows of a
business or event where we can post one. For those interested, be
sure and make plans to attend my “FREE "clinic “Horse Show Preparation,
Grooming & Showing” on Sunday, April 18th at
2:00 PM at the Bastrop Rodeo Arena. Those wishing to
attend will need to bring your lawn chairs, pens and paper for notes and any
“questions” you would like to ask. The clinic should last about 2
hours. If you plan to attend, please email me at:

make plans for a few handouts.
Two All-Breed Open Horse Shows are
scheduled for May 8thand Oct. 23rd.
These shows have classes for 3 age groups (12&Under), (13-18), and
(19&Over) and will be FUN-FUN and a GREAT time to “socialize” with other
“horsey” people…… Fees are $7.00 per
class or 8 classes for $50.00. Carol
Morris will be the Judge. Also,

We have scheduled 2 Family Rodeo's, 2 Trail Rides, and 2 Horse Shows.
The Playdays, and Trail Rides are “participation”
events and NO TIMES will be kept.
The Horse Shows are standard shows with a Qualified Judge.
In order to qualify for any club awards, you must be a member
of the Bastrop Family Rodeo Club and participate in 4 of the 8 (family rodeos/ trail
ride/horse show) scheduled events (any combination).
Awards for these events will be monogrammed jackets/hoodies and/or other
prizes as funds allow.
Trail Rides:
We will hold our first Trail Ride on Saturday,
May 15 at McKinney Roughs (Highway 71 Trailhead).
Be saddled and ready to ride out at
10:00AM.
Club members can purchase “tickets” for $5.00 before the ride. (McKinney
Rough tickets are usually $10) If
you have a guest, bring them, they will be able to buy a discount ticket on
their first ride.
Bring your own “sack lunch” for this
ride-- as more rides are scheduled we will be offering some “FREE LUNCHES!”
